Church on the sea

This is a little tiny church we visited in Georgioupolis in Crete. You had to walk along a very precarious path made of large rocks. It was quite stormy on the day we did it so was even more hazardous than usual. I've been trying a new technique of using soft pastels on Wallis paper over an underpainting. I'm quite pleased with this one.

Holy Cow (no pun intended) this is fabulous, the water glistens and the shore is warmly washed with light, what a fabulous sketch and a very interesting church.

This pastel painting is really great. I also like your other sketches very much. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful--it looks more like a photo than pastels.

This is incredible -- the sparkles on the ripples are so perfect and the bg mountains are truly way back there -- truly amazing piece!!

Good heavens! Like others, I was amazed that this was not a photo. What a treat! And, ohhh...I would love to visit this church!

Annie, I'm Getting to know you, and your work by surfing your blog. All of us, here, seem to agree that this painting is exciting. The sparkle on the water--as M.K. Scheibe says-- is "magical."
