Morning light

It's just about impossible to paint this sort of light effect from life and photos dont' work so I did a quick tonal sketch as preparation for this one. I've got a value measurement thingy that I made as a result of reading 'Color' by Betty Edwards and used that to measure the tones. My colour and value wheels are a huge help when painting.

Thanks Scrybe - your poetry is not too shabby either!

veryvery nice...I like it...and the colors are soothing. When I wake in the morning the leaves on the tree outside the window make the nicest soft pattern on the side of the cherry bureau...I've always wanted to paint it, but know it would be tough...looking is easier..haha.

I love the feeling of light in this painting.

This is great and thanks for mentioning the book, sounds like something I need to look at!

You have caught the "light within darker" values very well here Annie. I agree, it's very difficult to do.
